We have just completed one year of tough duty on seven DFO 9.2 meter buoy tending vessels each vessel is equipped with the Model SD-1 drive powered by a John Deere 4045. These vessels are used daily in some of Canada’s most demanding water and temperature conditions with no warranty or service issues. Olympic drives technical team was with us right from the design phase to the sea trial on each of the vessels. Talking us through every detail of the plumbing, mechanical and electrical using complete drawings and knowledgeable dialog.

Typical Boom Boat operating on the West Coast, these tough workboats are 13-18 ft in length with 70 to 200 HP diesel engines. The operational environments of these vessels are the log sorting grounds in rivers, lakes and in coastal communities from Oregon to Alaska.

BRAtt Boat with Olympic HD3 z-drive and Nozzle

BRAtt Boat
Launched in the spring of 2010 and christened at the ITS Show in Vancouver, Canada. The BRAtt's main propulsion and steering come from twin Model HD3 Olympic Drives with nozzles. The vessel is to be used as a training vessel for Z Tug Captains.

The BRAtt's Propulsion and Steering Control system is the latest in digital controls, combining both throttle and rotation in a single control head.

Florida Water Taxis
A total of 9 vessels where built starting in 2000 by Canal Boats Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale. These 70 person passenger vessels are the first "Green Vessels" Olympic Drives Z-drives have worked with. Many of the Florida water taxis have had extensive use over the last decade, which goes a long way to proving the longevity of the diesel electric concept.

Each vessel has either a single Olympic SD1 or Hydro Drive, 360 degree steerable z-drive. These highly maneuverable boats are able to outperform traditional twin-screw vessels in dockside handling.

These CCG vessels have been built several times over the last 20+ years using both the Olympic Hydro Drive and the Olympic SD1 Azimuth as the main means of propulsion and steering.

These highly maneuverable vessels allow the operator to navigate in close proximity to the buoy even with inclement weather conditions.
